Most of us remember receiving our first paycheck. How did you spend it or what did you do with the money? Beginning today, I am launching a new portfolio as an example for all young readers (<36 – an arbitrary number) and something you can pass on to your grandchildren. Here is how it is going to work. One hundred percent of the money will go into a U.S. Equities portfolio. Since this portfolio is housed at Schwab, the cash will be invested in SCHB. Each month a deposit is made into this portfolio and that money will be invested in SCHB. Very straight forward. I hope to have an article accepted on Seeking Alpha and if this occurs, I’ll post a link.
The portfolio is named Franklin out of respect for the DNA work by Rosalind Franklin. This morning I moved $500 from one account into the Franklin and purchased 5 shares of SCHB. This was done with the permission of the owner of another portfolio as this person wants to set an example for her grandchildren. Now if only the grandchildren will read and follow the Franklin portfolio.
