Energy Overbought

Energy is currently overbought so I placed a 3% TSLOs under VDE in the Carson, Franklin, and McClintock. These are the three Sector BPI portfolios I monitor here at ITA.

If not already sold out of the Sector BPI portfolios, TSLOs are in place for Financial (VFH), Health (VHT), Staples (VDC), Industrial (VIS), Technology (VGT), Communications (VOX), Utilities (VPU), and Real Estate (VNQ).

The last oversold sectors were Discretionary (VCR) and Materials (VAW).

Lowell, have you tried downloading Tingo prices into a Kipling spreadsheet lately? I have been able to download prices using the Kipling spreadshet, until this week. Now I get blanks. Has anyone else reported on this issue?

I will recheck in the morning, but Energy moved into the overbought zone. Hold off for now as I need to confirm this move.

Sector BPI Update: 8/14/26

As of August 14, 2026 all major indexes are bullish. Now on to the Sectors.

Overbought sectors are: Financial, Health, Industrial, Technology, and Communications. Of the five I have TSLOs set for Technology (VGT) and Communications (VOX). With the other three I am holding a single share of VFH, VHT, and VIS.

No sectors are oversold so there are no buying opportunities.

Three sectors moved into the overbought zone and they are: VIS, VGT, and VOX. Those are the ETFs for the overbought sectors.

None of the Sector BPI portfolios I monitor are holding shares of VIS. I placed TSLOs under VGT and VOX in the Carson, Franklin, and McClintock.

Tomorrow is the update for the Franklin.

Utilities took a big hit so I will be watching that one as well.

The three overbought sectors are: Financial, Health, and Real Estate. All were overbought for several weeks so nothing has changed since TSLOs were already in place.

Tomorrow the McClintock portfolio is up for review.

Staples Sector Overbought

Friday's action placed Staples (VDC) in the overbought zone. I set 3% TSLOs under VDC in all three Sector BPI portfolios.

Also overbought are: Financial, Health, and Real Estate. This action does not impact any of the portfolios I track as I already have TSLOs set or am no longer invested in these sectors.

Overall, this last week was not a strong week for equities although the NYSE is up about one percentage point. Apparently small cap stocks performed a tad better this week compared to large and mega-cap stocks.

The three overbought sectors are: Financial, Health, and Utilities. I will need to check, but I don't think the Carson, Franklin, or McClintock hold any of those ETFs.

The most recent oversold sectors were: Discretionary, Energy, Materials, and Technology.

Energy is up from a low of 14.28% bullish to 33.33% bullish.
