Long-time readers of ITA Wealth Management know of my interest in helping individuals who do not have easy access to capital. Loans through Kiva help entrepreneurs establish a business. A portion of ITA profits are used to help individuals gain a foothold in the business world. Initially I was doing this through MEDA Trust, but they shut down loan activities due to insufficient support. Kiva is active and recently topped the one million donor list. Here are some details of our involvement with Kiva.
- My wife and I are currently involved in 85 businesses in 32 countries.
- Loans are currently double the amount invested in the businesses. As loans are repaid, the money is “reused” in new businesses.
- With this round of giving, several loans were made to help individuals continue their university education.
I encourage like minded individuals to consider making small loans to those who have less.
