At what point will the stock market begin to reflect the staggering economy. It is easy to separate the two. Last evening, and for many months we heard these words. "This is the greatest economy we've ever had." What are the facts and is this a true statement?
Steve Rattner, a New York investment asset manager, laid out some data this morning and it is quite revealing. If we use pre-Covid-19 data, the GDP for the Trump administration ranks #8 going back and including the Eisenhower Administration. If one uses Goldman Sachs estimates for the 3rd and 4th quarters for 2020 (post Covid-19), the Trump Administration comes in dead last. You got it. DEAD LAST.
Unless there is some sort of stimulus package coming during the 4th quarter of 2020, there is a high probability the underlying economy will begin to impact the stock market. Be patient and take care of your capital. Plan for a risk averse approach to portfolio management.
