I just spoke with a TDAmeritrade officer with the Banking Department and he assured me there are two ways one can make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD). 1) Ask TDA to send a check directly to the charity. 2) Write a check on the IRA account and send the check to the charity.

Should anyone find out different information from their broker, please post the information here on the Forum for all to read and digest.
