Since the last Bethe update VGT hit the 3% TSLO. In fact all shares of Technology were sold out of the portfolio just yesterday. The sale of VGT leaves Bethe with over $9,000 in cash. What to do with this money is explained later in the analysis.
While it is still eleven months away from the most important election in my lifetime, I am beginning to think how to handle investments should we see democracy in the United State begin to fade into history. Come spring, it may be a good time to employ the Halloween Effect. And what is the Halloween Effect?
“The Halloween Effect is a phenomenon where the stock market typically rises more during the six months after Halloween than it does the rest of the year. No one seems sure why it happens, but researchers speculate that it may have something to do with the timing and length of summer vacation.”
Bethe Security Holdings
Below are the current holdings for the Bethe Portfolio. Most of the sectors that were a Buy in the past are holding their recommended percentages. A few are below the recommended level such as VOX. Compare the third column from the left with the second column from the right.

Bethe Manual Risk Adjustments
To invest cash I’ve set limit purchase orders for ESGV (#1 rank), VOO, and VTI. The limit prices are well below the current values as I want to be sure cash is available should Discretionary dip into the oversold zone. Right now it is the sector closest to the 30% bullish line.
TSLOs are in place for Financial, Utilities, and Real Estate.

Bethe Portfolio Performance
Over the past 23 plus months the Bethe managed to outperform the S&P 500 (SPY). The separation from the other potential benchmarks is even greater. This data comes from the Investment Account Manager, a commercial portfolio tracking software program.

Bethe Risk Ratios
Keep in mind the Bethe is new to the Sector BPI investing model. The switch was make in late October and early November of this year.
The Jensen Alpha slope is still negative, but less so than it was in the last review. By Spring I think the Jensen slope will be positive.
Pay most attention to the Jensen Performance Index and the Information Ratio.
