Sea lion sunning in Newport, OR
Before delving into an update of the Carson, here is a Seeking Alpha article of interest.
Last week I mentioned that Financials dropped into the oversold zone. Upon the market opening I purchased shares of VFH for the three Sector BPI portfolios. Carson is one of the three and I purchased 51 shares bringing the total to 52 shares. The Carson now holds seven (7) of the eleven (11) sectors.
Carson Sector BPI Holdings
Below are the current sector holdings in the Carson. It is a tad unusual for a Sector BPI portfolio to hold seven sectors. Could this be a signal that the broad market is weakening?

Carson Performance Data
Since 12/31/2021 the Carson has more than doubled the AOR benchmark, but is still behind the S&P 500 (SPY). The Carson is matching the VTI or total market ETF.

Carson Risk Ratios
While it is very early in October, all risk ratios dipped since the September close. The two most critical values, Jensen and Information, are slightly ahead of where they were last October. With seven sectors in the current portfolio it will be interesting to see what happens to the Jensen Alpha over the next few months, regardless which way the market moves. These next few months will test the “reversion to the mean” logic.

Carson Sector Performance Data
The following data shows how well the Carson and individual holdings performed during the period when the Sector BPI model has been in operation. Checking on the individual ETFs one can see which sectors contributed most to the overall performance.
