August 21, 2021 By Lowell Herr

Since there are a few readers of this investment blog also interested in photography, this post illustrates how one can improve an image with a few minor tweaks using Luminar AI.  Here are some specs for this image.  I used a full-frame Canon 5D Mark II with a jpg setting.

Color To Black and White

August 22, 2021 By Lowell Herr

Have you ever created a photograph when you knew in advance it was highly likely it would end in a failure.  Such was the case yesterday when we were at the Dee Wright Observatory located just west of Sisters, Oregon.  Not only was I faced with a dark foreground, the

Metolius River and Several Music Recommendations

August 29, 2021 By Lowell Herr

Hiking along the Metolius River this week we came upon this abandoned cabin.  Old sites such as this one are favorites of photographers as we know they might have a limited lifetime. Not too many years ago this walkway did not exist.  Now one can take a 1/2 mile hike

Walking Among Ponderosa Pine

September 1, 2021 By Lowell Herr

One of the most beautiful trees is the Ponderosa Pine.  These are found on east side of the Cascades and Serra Nevada mountains.  The reddish bark and the aroma on a hot summer day are delights to behold. Below is an example of a stand close to Camp Sherman, Oregon.
