Franklin Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 3 September 2025

September 3, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

In keeping with the conservative position I added another 12 shares of SHV to the Franklin portfolio.  Since no sectors are oversold something needs to be done with available cash that comes in from dividends and new cash.  Should we see a market draw-down of 10% or more, I plan to sell shares of SHV […]

Carson Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 2 September 2025

September 2, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

September opens with a review of the Carson Sector BPI portfolio, one of the better performing accounts monitored here at ITA.  As equities rise or are holding at a high level, it has been many weeks since we last observed a sector in the oversold zone.  This is a time for patience as we are […]

Carson Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 18 July 2025

July 19, 2025 By Lowell Herr 3 Comments

Carson is the oldest Sector BPI portfolio or the one providing the best information as to how well this investing model works.  As yet I have not seen another website using this investing model.  If ITA readers ever spot something similar, pass the link or pertinent information along. Carson Security Holdings Health was sold out […]

Franklin Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 15 July 2025

July 17, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

Franklin is one of three Sector BPI portfolios, all named after women scientists.  Since the last review of the Franklin, shares of VHT and VOX were sold out of the portfolio leaving shares in Consumer Staples (VDC)  and Energy (VDE).  The Franklin also holds shares in VOO and the bulk of the portfolio resides in […]

McClintock Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 23 June 2025

June 23, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

The McClintock portfolio was last reviewed on April 29th so it is long overdue.  Numerous sector ETFs were sold out of the McClintock since the last review so I will be examining how well the Sector BPI investing model is working by analyzing the last screenshot in this blog post.

Franklin Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 12 June 2025

June 12, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

One benefit of Sector BPI portfolios such as the Franklin is that there is a built in capital preservation ingredient inherent in the management model.  While Trailing Stop Loss Orders (TSLOs) may not be ideal, based on historical data, they are working for the three Sector BPI portfolios.  Check portfolios Carson and McClintock for further […]

Franklin Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 4 June 2025

June 5, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

Franklin is the Sector BPI portfolio up for review.  Included in this blog post is evidence of the viability of the Sector BPI investing model.  Based on all the uncertainty surrounding the current administration I will be making some slight changes in what to do if no sectors are included for investment or if there […]

Carson Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 13 May 2025

May 13, 2025 By Lowell Herr 5 Comments

Today’s market brings us closer to closing the equity losses from early April.  As one of the Sector BPI portfolios, the Carson experienced only minor losses in April.  Several sectors are currently in the overbought zone and as a result, Trailing Stop Loss Orders (TSLOs) are in place to lock in profits.  It is difficult […]
