The Hawking Portfolio is an “Income” portfolio built from Closed-End-Funds (CEFs) with a target of generating over 8% annual income from distributions. It is also hoped to pick up a “growth” component that adds to “total return”. Performance to date looks like this:
and has led the benchmark AOR Fund over the past 17 months. Current holdings are as shown in the following screenshot:
As can be seen in the above figure, dividends year-to-date (after 5 months) are a little over $4,000 so we are well on the way to meeting the 8% annual target. At the present time I have ~$1,500 to re-invest so I plan to add more shares of DHF to the portfolio. DHF is a high yield income fund paying an 8.8% dividend and currently selling at a 10% discount to Net Asset Value (NAV).
That is the only action required at this point in time.

David, DHF is being sold by BNY Mellon to Templeton resources with all the management. May not be any impact to the performance. Is there a way to describe/capture YTD performance of capital in the spreadsheet? – Jay R
I’m not sure exactly what you’re looking for Jay – just this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/4c9jkvuy6cd5u9f/DHF%202022-06-06_11-03-12.png?dl=0 ?
