Carson is the Sector BPI portfolio up for review this morning as we enter the “Dog Days” of summer. Carson is the oldest Sector BPI portfolio and the top performer. Only the Copernicus is a better performer when it comes to return on investments.
Carson Security Holdings
It has been a long time since any sectors dropped into the oversold zone. As a result the Carson holds the vast majority of the portfolio in shares of VTI and VOO. There is still plenty of cash available. Instead of picking up more shares of VOO and/or VTI, I have several limit orders in place as much as 10% below the current price for these ETFs.
I think it wise to hold a sizable percentage in cash until after January 20th, 2025.

Carson Performance Data
Since 12/31/2021 the Carson consistently outperformed the SPY benchmark and did it by a wide margin. This data comes from the Investment Account Manager software and matches the Schwab broker data. The Sector BPI investing model appears to be working.

Carson Risk Ratios
Don’t pay much attention to the August data. Check the Jensen and Information Ratio data over the past year. The slope of the Jensen is essentially flat. It is difficult to maintain a positive slope when working with Jensen values this high.

Carson Sector Report Data
The Sector BPI approach was launched with the Carson in May of 2022 so we now have a little over two years of data. During this period the Carson whipped the SPY benchmark as well as all other potential references.
