Dolly Parton scarecrow.
It is somewhat unusual to find eight (8) of the eleven (11) sectors populating a Sector Bullish Percent Indicator (BPI) portfolio. Such is the case with the McClintock this morning. While the overall market is hovering at or near all-time highs, there is weakness within the general market and that is showing up within a number of sectors. This is why 8 of the 11 sectors dropped into the oversold zone within the last few weeks. We are beginning to see a few oversold sectors begin to move up and out of the oversold zone. An oversold zone is when the percentage of stocks within a give sector are at 30% bullish or below based on data from StockCharts.
McClintock Sector BPI Holdings
Below are the current holdings within the McClintock. The sectors holding a single share are only there for my convenience when working with the Investment Account Manager software. When I speak of sectors being populated I am referring to those sector ETFs holding more than one share.

McClintock Performance Data
Since 12/31/2021 the McClintock has outperformed the AOR benchmark. The McClintock was not using the Sector BPI investment model this entire period. For more information as to how the Sector BPI model works, move down to the bottom screenshot.

McClintock Risk Ratios
Over the past year all four risk ratios remained positive (green) and we find all four are currently higher than they were a year ago. The Sector BPI investment model is working as anticipated based on the original hypothesis.

McClintock Sector Performance
The following performance data provides a more complete picture as to how the McClintock Sector BPI portfolio is performing. This portfolio was launched on 10/15/2023 or three years ago. Over this three-year period the Internal Rate of Return is 27.89% while the S&P 500 (SPY) returned 22.29%.
Only VTI was held in the portfolio for the entire period. A reasonable question to raise is the following. Why did the VTI within the McClintock portfolio only have an IRR of 13.11% while the benchmark VTI has an IRR of 21.81%? The difference is that in the portfolio I purchased and sold some shares of VTI at different times in order to raise cash to purchase shares of different sectors. Those transactions had a negative impact on the shares of VTI held in the portfolio. While the overall portfolio benefited, VTI itself was hurt.
