McClintock Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 25 March 2025

March 25, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

Before updating the McClintock, a brief word about the current Bullish Percent Indicator (BPI) data.  All sectors are bullish with exception of Utilities and Real Estate.  No sectors currently held in any of the portfolios are in the overbought zone and there are no sectors oversold.  Therefore, no changes are recommended at this time. The […]

Franklin Portfolio Update: 8 April 2025

April 8, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

Stay the course.  Stick with the investment plan.  That is the advice I am following with the Franklin Sector BPI portfolio in this update.  Shares of SHV were sold to raise cash in order to populate the sectors currently in the oversold zone.  Today’s strong market is most likely a “dead cat bounce.”  Market action […]

Carson Portfolio Update: 10 April 2025

April 9, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

The following data was scheduled for publication at least one day ago, but I was distracted due to the market plunge.  This portfolio is the oldest of the Sector BPI portfolios, but it has not been through a volatile market such as we have experienced over the last few days. As I mentioned when […]

McClintock Portfolio Update: 10 April 2025

April 10, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

McClintock is the last of the three Sector BPI portfolios to be reviewed this week.  Yesterday’s up market looks to be nothing more than a “Dead Cat Bounce.”  Sectors still under water this morning “mandated” I sell all shares in the holding ETF, SHV, and use the cash to populate the sector ETFs.

Carson Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 22 April 2025

April 22, 2025 By Lowell Herr 1 Comment

Five sectors are still positioned in the oversold zone when I checked early this morning.  I’ll identify these sectors later on in the rebalancing section.  The Carson currently holds at least one share in 10 of the 11 sectors.  The hope is that a few of these sectors will move up faster than the broad […]

McClintock Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 29 April 2025

April 29, 2025 By Lowell Herr Leave a Comment

McClintock is one of three portfolios managed using the Sector BPI model.  The other two are the Carson and Franklin, named after Rachel and Rosalind respectively.  During the recent market declines numerous sectors dropped into the oversold zone.  In other words, many sectors ended up with 30% or fewer bullish stock within the sector.  When […]

Franklin Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 8 May 2025

May 8, 2025 By Lowell Herr 2 Comments

Franklin is one of three portfolios using the Sector BPI management model.  The other two are:  Carson and McClintock.  The Sector BPI model is not designed for all investors as it requires some tracking and a bit of effort.  If looking for simplicity, check out the Schrodinger and Copernicus portfolios. With the sector model we […]

Carson Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 13 May 2025

May 13, 2025 By Lowell Herr 5 Comments

Today’s market brings us closer to closing the equity losses from early April.  As one of the Sector BPI portfolios, the Carson experienced only minor losses in April.  Several sectors are currently in the overbought zone and as a result, Trailing Stop Loss Orders (TSLOs) are in place to lock in profits.  It is difficult […]
