Haystack Rock. Just to the right of the left rock one can spot a lighthouse. I should have move a tad to the right so this feature would be more visible.
Early November is a good time to update the Schrodinger, a computer managed portfolio. Since the last review Schwab, the broker that manages this portfolio, made a number of changes. More than a few were likely driven by tax harvesting.
Schrodinger Investment Quiver and Holdings
Below is the latest investment quiver and holdings in the Schrodinger. Note that Schwab recently moved considerable assets to PRF, PRFZ, and PXF.

Schrodinger Performance Data
Over the past 22 months the Schrodinger is in a dead heat with SPY, the “investable” S&P 500 ETF. The portfolio maintains a lead over the other five potential benchmarks. Due to the diversity it is unlikely the Schrodinger will keep pace with the S&P 500.

Schrodinger Risk Ratios
When a portfolio is matching the benchmark, it is rare for that same portfolio to register a positive Jensen Performance Index. The portfolio beta and short-term risk-free interest rates work against a positive Jensen. This is one reason why it is difficult to add alpha to a portfolio.

Sometime within the next few weeks I plan to post another Portfolio Performance spreadsheet. How many ITA portfolios are outperforming the S&P 500, how many are beating the Schrodinger, and how are the portfolios performing against the AOR benchmark? The spreadsheet will answer these questions.
I’ve managed to reposition most of the portfolios that were not operating as Sector BPI portfolios. There are still a few changes required and that should be finished in a week or so. Then I have a baseline to see how the portfolios perform using November 1, 2023 as a launch date.
