Appointment of a new FED Chairman caused me to dig into what is known as Financial Repression. For another explanation of the term check out the following quote.
“The term “financial repression” was coined in 1973 by Stanford economists Ronald McKinnon and Edward Shaw. Lowell, I’m glad you are using AI. The question is how far can we trust ai not to hallucinate? This portfolio you just created, what’s your feeling. Would i want to invest say 100k over a ten month period in it? It’s clear we are in an epochal change period. I’m curious about your evolution of trust is regarding financial ai guidance. Also wondered which LLM you used and if you did an identical query in say a Chinese LLM such as Deepseek or Qwen? And what the comparative result was? Life is getting very interesting, if only we could find the fountain of youth. Something I feel even ai will fail at. On a geneological note, do you know if the Herr family ever owned an overshot grist mill known as Glen Manor in Manor Township, PA.
James,
Are you thinking of the John Herr grist mill? Yes, he would be a relative going way back.
Hedgehunter used Claude and I used ChatGPT. The results are similar. ETF recommendations will change slightly depending on how one phrases the question.
My results from ChatGPT are not all that different from what I would come up with on my own. The percentages vary and in those cases I plan to use my own reasoning. Look for some AI portfolio analysis to show up within the next two weeks.
My gut feeling is that the Sector BPI portfolios will perform best under Financial Repression conditions.
One change I will be making is to sell shares of SHV and replace this ETF with SCHO. Expense ratio is lower and the volatility is similar.

This old Glen Manor mill once belonged to Christian Herr. This is not the same Christian who built the Hans Herr House in Willow Grove.
