This week I am making two music recommendations, and one actually includes three classical composers. First, the non-classical recommendation. As a very different recommendation I am suggesting readers check out Leo Kottke’s “Instrumentals: Best Of The Capitol Years.” Looking over my star ratings, most are listed at four stars and higher. One cut is included, so listen to this guitar music to see if Kottke is to your liking.
In contrast to Kottke, I’m including a second recommendation. You will not be disappointed with Boito’s Requiem. When you click on this link you will find Berlioz Requiem featuring Robert Shaw and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. While you will enjoy Berlioz, I highly recommend this multiple CD for the Arrigo Boito Prologue to Mefistofele. There is also an added bonus on these CDs and it is Giuseppe Verdi’s Te Deum.
If the last minute of the Mefistofele cut does not move your soul, then it is time to upgrade your stereo system.
