Huygens Portfolio Review: 31 July 2026

Huygens is the asset allocation portfolio scheduled for review this morning.  Since I first started this blog shares of GLDM and IAU were sold and the money was reinvested in short-term treasuries, SCHO.  This move will lower the portfolio beta which in turn will elevate the Jensen Alpha value. Huygens Asset Allocation Model Limit orders are in place to purchase more shares of VTI and VYM.  … [Read More...]

Franklin Sector BPI Update: 18 April 2023

Franklin is one of four Sector BPI portfolios.  Perhaps I should title these portfolios, Sector BPI Plus as each now contains more than the eleven (11) sector ETFs in an effort to patch one of the potential holes in the Sector BPI hypothesis.  Past sector blogs explain in more detail the flaw in the Sector BPI model. Moments ago I checked the Sector BPI spreadsheet and there are no major … [Read More...]

November 20, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Based on discussions found in the Comment section of the most recent BPI blog post, below is an investment quiver that may be the future of the Sector BPI Plus portfolios.  What I've done is to add eleven sector ETFs where these new eleven are … [Read more]

Rutherford Portfolio Review (Tranche 1): 17 November 2023

November 19, 2023 By hedgehunter

After Tuesday's strong breakout to the upside, US Equities calmed down into consolidation mode but ended the week up ~2.5% from last week's close: I think we can say that we have broken out of the downtrend channel that we have experienced over the … [Read more]

Tweaking Sector BPI Plus Investing Model: Part II

November 18, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Sufficient additions or modifications have occurred since launching the original Sector BPI investment model that it now makes sense to summarize how one manages these portfolios.  Here is the step by step process I go through when I review or update … [Read more]

Bullish Percent Indicators: 17 November 2023

November 17, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Pay close attention to the following tables as there are a few new wrinkles spawned by comments placed in the last BPI blog post.  As for recommendations that will impact the Sector BPI Plus portfolios - no changes.  No activity is planned for the … [Read more]

Franklin Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 17 November 2023

November 17, 2023 By Lowell Herr

As we review the Franklin, Technology remains the only overbought sector.  With a rather flat market this morning it seems unlikely we will see any other sectors rise to the overbought level when the BPI spreadsheet is updated tomorrow.  This is a … [Read more]

Gauss Portfolio Review: 16 November 2023

November 16, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Gauss is a relatively newcomer to the Sector BPI investing model.  It is also one of the portfolios I worked on during the last few weeks of October to purchase the recommended percentage of shares when several sectors were in the oversold zone.  … [Read more]

Copernicus Portfolio Update: 14 November 2023

November 14, 2023 By Lowell Herr

From one of the poorest portfolio performers (Kepler) we now shift to one of the best performers.  In addition, no particular skills are needed to manage the Copernicus, the portfolio up for review today.  Copernicus is the portfolio I highly … [Read more]

Kepler Sector BPI Portfolio Update: 13 November 2023

November 13, 2023 By Lowell Herr

During the last two weeks in October I spent a significant amount of time repositioning and rebuilding portfolios into the Sector BPI investing model.  Kepler is one such example and I'm not quite there as Materials (VAW) is only half filled based on … [Read more]
