Huygens Portfolio Review: 25 August 2023

August 25, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Huygens is the portfolio scheduled for review this morning and there are a few changes in the works.  To keep up with the S&P 500 I am moving this portfolio toward an equity bias.  In other words, I’m building up shares in VOO, SPY, VTI, and ESGV.  When international equities are in favor I’ll add […]

Huygens Portfolio Review: 17 July 2023

July 18, 2023 By Lowell Herr

In the process of reviewing the Huygens there are a few significant items to bring to readers attention.  I’m gradually shifting the income model over to a growth model.  This may take a few months as I don’t want to sell off the CEFs at a significant loss.  The other issue, less visible, it the […]

Huygens Income Portfolio Review: 22 June 2023

June 23, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Huygens is an income oriented portfolio built around high income Closed-End-Funds (CEFs).  Other than generating income, the performance is lack luster, thus requiring some special attention after the second quarter dividends are paid out.  As cash mounts I’ll be purchasing shares of securities recommended from the ETFs list ESGV through BND.  See the following screenshot. Huygens Income Portfolio Review: 5 June 2023

June 5, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Over the next few months watch for possible changes in how the Huygens is managed.  I’m less than impressed with the income approach, particularly as there are signs U.S. Equities may be ready for a positive run.  This particular portfolio is housed with TD Ameritrade and I was told the transition from TD Ameritrade to […]

Huygens Income Portfolio Reviewed: 19 May 2023

May 19, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Huygens is the income oriented portfolio up for review this morning.  Since dividends play such an important role in this style portfolio, it is best to use this approach with tax deferred accounts.

Huygens Portfolio Review: 18 April 2023

April 18, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Huygens is strictly an income generating portfolio, patterned after Steven Bavaria’s Income Factory model.  Thus far these income portfolios have generated adequate income, but the underlying value of the securities have not kept pace with the stock market.

Huygens Portfolio Review: 15 March 2023

March 15, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Even though CEFs have taken quite a hit recently, the Huygens continues to outperform the S&P 500 and when last updated ranked in the top quartile of the 15 portfolios tracked here at ITA.  How is the portfolio surviving in this volatile market?  Follow along with the analysis below.

Huygens Portfolio Review: 9 February 2023

February 9, 2023 By Lowell Herr

As one of three income oriented portfolios, the Huygens turned in an excellent January with a gain in excess of 11.0%.  I don’t anticipate this increase will continue. This review or update will show a few necessary changes as two Closed-End-Funds (CEFs) are not meeting the yield requirement. Huygens Investment Quiver Since the last review […]
