Millikan Portfolio Review: 20 January 2023

January 20, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Millikan is one of the newest Sector BPI Model portfolios.  As a result, you will see two “holdover” securities, VWO and VEA, still part of the portfolio.  I have 3% TSLOs set for both ETFs so it likely will not be too long before both are sold out of the Millikan. The black cloud hanging […]

Franklin Portfolio Review: 19 January 2023

January 18, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Franklin shed 40 shares of Energy (VDE) this morning as the market plunged lower.  In the following Sector BPI Model readers will see how well the Franklin is performing with respect to its benchmark. Tomorrow I will check in on another Sector BPI portfolio to see if the selloff moved any of sectors into the […]

Pauling Portfolio Review: 18 January 2023

January 18, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Pauling is the Dual Momentum™ portfolio scheduled for an update this morning.  Of all the portfolios tracked here at ITA, Pauling is the poorest performer when it comes to annualized Internal Rate of Return (IRR) results.  As a result, I am changing the look-back period as I will show and discuss in the first screenshot.

Bullish Percent Indicators: 13 January 2023

January 14, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Friday, the 13th of January, brings changes to those managing a Sector BPI portfolio.  Energy, Financial, and Real Estate all moved into the over-bought zone this week.  All major indexes are bullish.  None of the indexes penetrated the over-bought zone, but the NASDAQ is getting close.  We see a big percentage jump in Technology which […]

Franklin Portfolio Update: 12 January 2023

January 12, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Updating the BPI sector data this morning I find all sector ETFs continue to reside between the 30% and 70% bullish zones although Energy (VDE) is approaching the 70% bullish zone.  Another one or two good days and it will be necessary to place a 3% TSLO on VDE.

Schrodinger Portfolio Review: 11 January 2023

January 11, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Looking for a passive portfolio where you do nothing but save?  The Schrodinger is the portfolio for you.  Schwab calls these “Intelligent Portfolios.”  I refer to them as Robo Advisor portfolios as they are managed by computer.  The owner of the Schrodinger does nothing except invest more cash when available.  The Schwab computer performs all […]

Hawking Portfolio Review: 10 January, 2023

January 11, 2023 By hedgehunter

The Hawking Portfolio is a Buy-and-Hold “Income” Portfolio built from Closed-End-Funds (CEFs) paying high yields (>8%) and, generally, selling at a discount (at least at the time of purchase). The composition of the current portfolio looks like this: with performance over the past 2 years looking like this: i.e. returns have stayed consistently ahead of […]
