Kahneman-Tversky Portfolio Review: 3 February 2023

February 8, 2023 By hedgehunter

The Kahneman-Tversky Portfolio is a simple Dual Momentum Portfolio that needs little management/adjustment. It is split into two portions – one that is relatively slow in reacting to changes in market conditions – the Kahneman portion – and one that reacts a little more quickly (but may be more subject to whipsaw trades) – the […]

Kepler Portfolio Review: 7 February 2023

February 7, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Prepare for a less than stellar performance from the Kepler as I walk through this review.  Either the Buy-Hold-Sell (BHS) model is not working as designed or I am not implementing it properly.  The result is the same disappointing performance that will require some changes if this continues over the next several months.

Carson Portfolio Review: 6 February 2023

February 6, 2023 By Lowell Herr

As the original Sector BPI portfolio the Carson is scheduled for review this morning.  As mentioned in an earlier post or comment, I have concerns when a portfolio is in the position of holding few securities while the potential for a bull market run lies ahead.  Should a bull market ensue there are only two […]

Bullish Percent Indicators: 3 February 2023

February 4, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Based on Bullish Percent Indicator (BPI) data, this past week was a good week for U.S. Equities.  The first table shows the broad strength when examining several indexes.  The second table is the one we use to guide us in how we manage the Sector BPI portfolios.

Rutherford Portfolio Review (Tranche 4): 3 February 2023

February 4, 2023 By hedgehunter

US Equities had another strong week with the S&P 500 Index up close to 2% on the week and ~7.7% in the month from the closing price on 31 December 2022: We have now taken out the prior December high at 4100 and closed above this level – so we could tentatively call a valid […]

Franklin Portfolio Review: 2 February 2023

February 2, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Welcome to Ground Hog Day.  Franklin is the portfolio scheduled for review and if you recall, the Franklin was a lagging Dual Momentum portfolio that I switched over to the Sector BPI model.  Time will tell as to whether this was a wise move. Since no moves are recommended, this review is short and sweet.

Carson Portfolio Review: 1 February 2023

February 1, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Welcome to February.  We are two days away from the mid-point of winter in the northern hemisphere.  What better way to open the month than to review the Carson portfolio.  Depending on your holdings in a Sector BPI portfolio, there may be a few recommendations or changes in the portfolios.  Not so with the Carson […]

Gauss Portfolio Review: 31 January 2023

January 31, 2023 By Lowell Herr

We end the month of January with a review of the Gauss, one of four Sector BPI portfolios.  While there are currently four BPI sectors of the market positioned in the over-bought zone, the Gauss holds zero shares in any of these sectors.  Technology was sold last week.  The single remaining sector holding is VOX.

Bohr Portfolio Review: 30 January 2023

January 30, 2023 By Lowell Herr

The Bohr and Bethe are similar portfolios in that they both hold equities for growth and Closed-End-Funds (CEFs) for income.  In both accounts they are essentially Buy and Hold portfolios as there is very little trading taking place.

Rutherford Portfolio Review (Tranche 3): 27 January 2023

January 29, 2023 By hedgehunter

It was a bullish week for US equities with the SPX up over 2.6% on the week: and touching (but not closing above) the 4100 level that might indicate a reversal of the 2022 downtrend. In terms of relative strength, US equities outperformed all other major asset classes except for US Real estate: Current holdings […]
