Schrodinger Portfolio Update: 1 November 2023

November 1, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Early November is a good time to update the Schrodinger, a computer managed portfolio.  Since the last review Schwab, the broker that manages this portfolio, made a number of changes.  More than a few were likely driven by tax harvesting.

Franklin Sector BPI Portfolio Update: 30 October 2023

October 30, 2023 By Lowell Herr

After the market opened this morning I proceeded to reallocate and/or rebalance the Carson, Bohr, and now the Franklin portfolios.  Not all limit orders were struck, but all three portfolios are set to finish out 2023 without too much further trading.  Follow along as I review the Franklin, one of the newer Sector BPI portfolios.

Bohr Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 30 October 2023

October 30, 2023 By Lowell Herr

The Bohr portfolio is new to the Sector BPI investing model.  Positioning the different sectors that are oversold is primarily what is happening in this review or update.  There is a significant percentage in cash and that will be allocated to sectors that are under populated and are oversold based on Bullish Percent Indicator data.  […]

Rutherford Portfolio Review (Tranche 2): 27 October 2023

October 29, 2023 By hedgehunter

It was a bad week for US equities with the SPX (S&P 500 Index) dropping over 2.5% from last week’s close: It has also now closed below the lower 2 Standard Deviation boundary of the early 2023 bullish uptrend channel (yellow line) and the 50% retracement level of that uptrend (green line) for 2 days […]

Carson Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 28 October 2023

October 28, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Boats on the Willamette River As a follow up to the Bullish Percent Indicator (BPI) data presented earlier this morning, this review of the Carson (named after Rachel) lays out the logic an investor will use to manage a Sector BPI portfolio.  The Carson is the oldest Sector BPI Plus portfolio and therefore provides […]

Bullish Percent Indicators: 27 October 2023

October 28, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Based on Bullish Percent Indicator data, we are in a bear market.  This despite a GDP growth rate of 4.9% in the third quarter.  Those of you managing a portfolio using the Sector BPI Plus model will find many opportunities this week as eight of the eleven sectors are overbought. Readers who have been regular […]

McClintock Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 27 October 2023

October 27, 2023 By Lowell Herr

The McClintock is one of the latest portfolios to be move over to the Sector BPI investing model.  This review shows readers how one might transition a portfolio from one investing model to another.  The first order of business is to select the investment quiver.  The first screenshot lays out the Sector BPI quiver.

Gauss Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 26 October 2023

October 26, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Gauss is one of the more recent portfolios to be moved from the Relative Momentum model (expanded version of the Dual Momentum model) over to the Sector BPI Plus model.  This conversion occurred a little less than one year ago.  I just checked to see how well this Investment Quiver performed vs SPY.  Over the […]

Copernicus Portfolio Update: 25 October 2023

October 25, 2023 By Lowell Herr

Of all the portfolios tracked here on the ITA blog, Copernicus is the easiest to manage, next to the Schrodinger.  With the Schrodinger I do nothing except track the results as that portfolio is managed by a computer algorithm at Schwab.  The Copernicus is designed to track the broad U.S. Equities market.  While I use […]

Carson Portfolio Review: 25 October 2023

October 24, 2023 By Lowell Herr

This is a quick update of the Carson, the oldest Sector BPI portfolio tracked on the ITA blog.  Cash was available and two new sectors dropped into the oversold zone so it made sense to review the Carson.
