The week started with a continuation of the recovery bounce that we saw at the end of last week – but this was to be negated on Thursday and Friday with the earlier gains being given back and US equities closing the week only ~0.25% higher than last week’s close and moving lower: The upper […]
Bohr Sector BPI Portfolio Review: 13 October 2023
Bohr is currently classified as a Sector BPI Plus portfolio, but it is still in transition from a Growth and Income portfolio. This portfolio continues to hold a number of Closed-End-Funds (CEFs). Now that the third quarter dividends are in I’ll be selling them and reinvesting in the oversold sectors.
McClintock Portfolio Review: 13 October 2023
McClintock is one of several Relative Strength portfolios where a limited number of ETFs form the investment quiver. The security options focus on U.S. Equities, Developed International Equities, Emerging Market Equities, and Bonds. The Kipling spreadsheet provides guidance as to which ETFs to Buy, Hold, or Sell. McClintock Security Recommendations The current recommendation is to […]
Bullish Percent Indicators: 13 October 2023
Based on Bullish Percent Indicator data this past week was a good week for U.S. Equities. I would not classify it as excellent, but at least there were positive moves in all the major indexes and one sector (Materials) moved out of the oversold zone. There are still five sectors that are oversold so we […]
Gauss Portfolio Review: 10 October 2023
Gauss is one of six Sector BPI Plus portfolios managed here at ITA. Recent additions to this investing model are: Bohr and Bethe. Since the beginning of this year the Gauss reversed the Jensen trend from negative to positive and it continues to outperform the S&P 500 (SPY) benchmark. This week I sold off shares […]
Rutherford Portfolio Review (Tranche 3): 6 October 2023
We started the week with a continuation of the recent bearish trend and a test of the 4200 support level in the SPX, but Friday’s strong bounce led to a ~0.25% higher close from last week’s close.: However we are now re-testing the 4300 level – at the top of the support/resistance zone (shaded area) […]
Bullish Percent Indicator Data: 6 October 2023
Based on Bullish Percent Indicator (BPI) data we still seem mired in the “Dog Days of Summer.” The BPI graphs would look even worse if it were not for the strong day on Friday. As readers will see in a moment, the Friday rebound was confined primarily to large-cap stocks and we need to see […]
Schrodinger Portfolio Update: 6 October 2023
Yesterday I received notification from Schwab that the Intelligent Portfolio had been rebalanced. Since this is a rather infrequent event I decided to update the Schrodinger to see what changes occurred. There are a number changes and one would need to go back a review or two and compare the portfolios. Schrodinger Investment Quiver and […]
Einstein Portfolio Review: 6 October 2023
The Einstein portfolio is one of five Relative Strength portfolios tracked here at ITA. There are some differences in the settings of the different portfolios which influence decisions. For example, with the Einstein I am taking the long view in that the look-back period is longer and the investing model is the LRPC. Fewer trades […]
Pauling Portfolio Review: 5 October 2023
Pauling is the portfolio scheduled for review this morning and it is one of the poorest performing accounts tracked here at ITA. Last spring or summer I altered the investing model. To see if the change is having an impact on the return/risk ratio, pay special attention to the Jensen Performance Index and the Information […]
